Philadelphia 76ers "Project"

The true question isn't: how bad are the Philadelphia 76ers? The true question is: how many NFL teams will win more games in the 2014-2015 season than the 76ers in basketball? With an 0-9 start to the season the 76ers are making a run at their own franchise's record for futility when the 1972-73 76ers went 9-73.

With the announcement that they are trying to lose over the next few years, the Sixers are essentially saying "Hey we are gonna be Nicholas Cage, waste your time with our crappy movies, and steal your money
." The Sixers went from having a decent team with Andre Iguodala, Lou Williams, and Jrue Holliday to a team that took a big risk on Andrew Bynum, to a team that thinks being really bad is more beneficial than being mediocre in the NBA.

The 76ers are playing with fire though. Turning around a losing mentality is more difficult than the organization thinks, especially when none of the so called "assets" the Sixers have are franchise changing guys. Joel Embiid and Nerlens Noel are both injury risks already and that front court does not have the David Robinson/Tim Duncan like ability. Winning can cure all, but when is that winning going to happen? Tanking would be worth it if the end result is a couple NBA titles. However, a future with Embiid, Noel, and Michael Carter-Williams has them with a future no better than the early 90s Nets with Derek Coleman, Kenny Anderson, and Drazen Petrovic where you make the playoffs a couple times and get bounced early. So the peak for the Sixers I would say is Face/Off, an entertaining movie with a lot of action, but poor dialogue and lazy acting.

So back to my original question: How many NFL teams will finish with more wins than the 76ers this year? I am predicting a 10 win season for the 76ers with their first win coming against Boston on November 19. The only snag in this prediction is they get 3 or 4 games against horrendous Eastern Conference opponents. My prediction is New England, Arizona, Green Bay, Dallas, and Philadelphia will all finish with at least 11 wins. So if five teams finish with more wins than the 76ers, that would continue the motion picture we are watching which looks a bit like Bangkok Dangerous.
